Hi,
So I have a question about vaccines.
I have 24 chicks in a brooder that I would like to vaccinate.
I have both the fowl pox vaccine and the mareks disease vaccine.
These chicks have never been outside, their feet have never touched soil, they are in a brooder inside my Air Conditioned house.
I have chicks that are 9 weeks, 6 weeks, and 2 weeks old. None have been vaccinated.
I am aware that in general mareks would be given at 1 day old and fowl pox at 8 weeks.
However, I have read multiple things that say mareks can be given at any age. As can fowl pox.
Even to laying hens, though there is an egg withdraw period if the hen is laying.
My question is as follows... Can I give my baby chicks 2 live vaccines at the same time? Both the marek's Disease vaccine and the fowl pox vaccine? My assumption is no, given that they do not do that with human vaccines. Due to the risk of overloading the immune system.
So then my next question is... what would be the waiting period between each vaccine? And does it matter which is given first?
I do know that it takes two weeks for immunity to build up for the vaccines.
