Northern Portugal
I am now living in Northern Portugal and have come across a hugely popular local dish in most traditional restaurants called Arroz de Sarrabulho

This is Rice cooked in Chicken blood and the meat is cooked and shredded in to the dish, this is also done with pork! I bought a chicken from my local shop a few weeks ago and was suprised to find instead of neck and gizzards etc tucked inside - a sachet of it's blood, I now know why. So.... I decided to go to a local restaurant to try out this dish and to my surprise it was actually quite tasty. Just wondering if any one else knows of this type of dish or whether it really is typical to Northern Portugal?

I know some of my very good Portuguese and Spanish friends eat dishes with pork and chicken blood, I traveled to Asia when I was a kid with my parents and a few of those countries does the same practice with different twist.

Thanks for that. Does anyone else have any interesting but obscure recipes? I am a foodie and generally I like to at least try something once, though I definitely draw the line at eyeballs!!

I know a very simple and traditional meal for the Masai of Africa is to mix goat blood and some sort of flour together (I'm sure most any meal or flour would work) and then fry it up in little balls. Would probably work fine with just about any blood. I saw it on Tribes. Admittedly the anthropologist choked on it because it gets kind of congealed and stringy...
