Hey everyone! I have a hen who has just recently been bullying my broody girl. So bad to the point where I had to separate her to let her injuries heal first. Now the bully is in jail and I'm curious what to do from here. The broody girl is broke from her broodiness now, and gets along with the other girls fine. The bully has been in one of our dog cages for two days, I let her out during the day by herself. When would be a good time to reintroduce her? I have some 14 week old chicks I was going to introduce at the same time as her so they have power in numbers. What do you guys think?

Hi! In y experience it is best to rid the flock of the bully. All of my young birds don't stand up for the selves at all but take the heat. It might be best for the harmony of the flock. I am always glad and relieved when I get rid of my bullies !

I have a similar situation. My 5 girls have been together for 2 years. There was a head hen that died 2 months ago. These girls have been very docile, with very little pecking or squabbling. Now one Speckled Sussex that has been totally neutral is picking on a Bantam Silke. She ripped out a good portion of the fluff on her head and bloodied her little comb. I've put the Sussex in a 5x3 pen for the last week. Yesterday, I let her out and she went right after the Silkie again. The Silkie is frightened of her, but otherwise not submissive. Should I move the Sussex's pen totally away from the others? Would it help to sit with them and "calm her down" while around the Silkie, blocking her aggressiveness? They are used to being hugged and doted on. Could favoring them be causing rivalry? I have 3 pullets and a cockerel (7 weeks old) to integrate soon and in 10 days I'll be going out of town for a week. I really want things settled and harmonious while I'm gone!
