I will try to get a video later. She is not lethargic. She is able to squawk. She eats and drinks water.

When I saw her, she would do a high wheeze when she breathed in, and I noticed she breathed a bit more heavily. I gave her a little olive oil and made her drink water and it stopped for a bit.

She has no mucus or eye bubbles. Is this a stridor? Should I be worried? She seems to be breathing fine.

It is stridor, but that doesn't diagnose what's causing it. Almost always, stridor resolves on its own in 24 hours.

But you should always do a thorough exam of the throat to be sure there is no string wrapped around the tongue or something stuck in the back of the throat that could work itself into the airway.

Hello! I have another chicken who suddenly has a audible inhale after she makes a noise. She isn't coughing, sneezy, or snotty. She does not have open beak breathing and there is no rattling or gurgle in her breaths.

The only think that has changed is the bedding, we made a mistake and accidentally filled the bedding area of the roost with Stall Freshener granuals that look like sand (Pine and Zeolite) for 2 days, which I know is no good for chickens to inhale. I took it away but unfortunately, that brought up a bunch of dust while they were perching. I tried to ventaliate that area for 2-3 hours after, but they must've inhaled some of the dust for a few minutes :(

I noticed the breathing change before the dust was kicked up. Her comb was also a bit less red and a bit more purplish on the tips. I thought cyanosis from poor circulation (she has cancer and it is cold), but it happened pretty quick and really without other symptoms.

Im afraid of respiratory issues, because its finals week for school!! And, I'm going on vacation in about 2 weeks for 2 weeks long. Any tips or advice other than giving her time, water, and fresh air?

Is it possible to look inside her beak, for something like canker?
She has cancer? Where?

If you are hearing stridor, it probably means the larynx has trapped some dust. This almost always clears up on its own. If it has gotten into the lungs, though, it may have caused damage or if not, then it may take a little longer for her lungs to clear.

My other hen had stridor once and this sounds different. When she breaths i can hear her breathing. Imagine a human mouth breathing, you hear the breaths they are taking. It was not like this a few days ago.

I think maybe some dust got into her lungs because its been a bit windy?

She was diagnosed by the vet with carcinomatosis (reproductive cancer). her egg laying completely stopped. I thought she would pass away after a few months but its been 8 months and shes still kicking. She is a bit more lethargic than my other hens but she is surviving, eating, and pooping well.

Yes, its possible for me to look in her beak. I will do that soon!
