Chicken playpen

Thought I'd share my playpen I made up for when my chickies get old enough and it gets warm enough for us to go outside together. It's currently being used by my "other babies" until they are old enough to sell. It still needs a few more tie ups on the sides but it was made with 1/2 PVC pipe and a left over swimming pool net. I checked the holes and they are almost exactly the size of chicken coop wire so there shouldn't be any problem. Now they can share some fresh air with me when I start gardening.

Here are the pups with my BR looking on.

Momma thought she needed to join the fun.

Big Red was overlooking the entire situation but I couldn't get him close to the pups.

Do you have hawks in your area?? Do you need to put some kind of cover over the pen??

They will enjoy the fresh air and grass!
I made a similar one only taller. My chicks were hopping up and over a 24" wall I had them in.

I'm thinking you might want to add a cover to it, too.

How about a sort of mesh "lid" that you can secure (perhaps with an S-hook)?

Shoot, I forgot to add the netting. We were given some bale netting that is light weight and works great for a temporary topper. We don't have a terrible time with hawks but I would never even chance having little ones out without something over the top. Thanks for the props on the proud roo. He sure likes to show off.
