Chicken poo and mushrooms

I am looking at trying something and din't know if anyone had any feedback on this. Chickens have poop......mushrooms grow on straw and poop. So why not grow some nice buttons or portobellas on the chicken waste?

Okay doing a bit of research and it seems as though it is possible. It just needs to be broken down manure and straw to have a good bed for mushrooms

Thanks for the link! I want to try and grow mushrooms as well and we always have more poop than we need, so I'll give it a try. But it's going to have to wait a bit until after we moved. Let me know how it worked for you.

Sounds Good! I'm going to do a bit of experimenting. It says about curing or aging the chicken manure for 4-6 weeks. I live in central PA and manure is plentiful! So I'm going to do a batch of straight chicken, a run of straight horse, straight cow and than try blends. My thought is that cow manure is more massive and not quite as packed full of nitrogen and that is one of the controversies with chicken manure is the power of the nitrogen and such in such a small package. I change the straw in the coop often and my hay to poop ratio is fairly high. I may end up salting my chicken batch with some cow manure. Regardless it's going to be interesting and I wanna start growing some big fat portobellas and some crimini. I found a few places on-line to get the vials of spores. These are two of them:

It shall be an interesting experiment and could be profitable. As well as add another product for the organic farmers.

Ordered for Ralphsters months and months ago and they never delivered any of the order. Customer service in non existent, only auto generated emails sent that blame the customer for all order problems. Followed their order instructions exactly and still nothing. They actually confirmed they recieved my money. Do a search on these guys they have been banned from being a sponsor on one of best mushroom websites. They have a F rating with Better business Bureau. Acused of possibly reporting orders to police. Many many people say they never got their orders google search them. Some say the got nothing but one strain of shrooms when ordering multiple strains if they received anything. They also have sent infected syringes to customers and did not replace them. DO NOT SEND THEM CASH it is a scam don’t be a sucker. Many of these positive comments on this site are from Ralphster them posting and trying to scam you. It looks like a looooong time ago way back in 2007 they were a good company but they are no longer in 2015. Do a search and see the truth on these jokers, here are some other peoples experiences and links to website I found them on. Also when you do a search you see Ralphsters is part of midwest grow kits so beware they my be afiliated.

My nephew bought spores from Ralphster's Spores, as did his friend, about a month apart. Both were busted, exactly a month apart, right around harvest time. This cannot be a coincidence! I've read nothing but negative things about Ralphsters. From what I've read in recent years they either steal your money or send you contaminated spore samples. I'm sure you'd be hard pressed to find someone with something positive to say about Ralphsters that has dealt with them any time recently. Redit.com

I was planning on being a legit customer.. I ordered once it worked.. then I ordered again a month later.. and never got it.. and its really not the fact i didnt get it that bothered me.. it was more the response I got when Inquiring about it Redit.com
I have had an order outstanding for over 2 months now. NO communications from the site. I have sent my order number and information asking when my mushroom spores will be sent and have been totally ignored since 5-07-2015 Ralphster Spores Canada appears to be bogus.!!!!
