My hen has had a slow crop for 3 weeks after a particularly hard molt. I’ve been massaging but it stays pretty full. Today I went out and she was acting a bit less energetic. Her crop isn’t firm and is kind of squishy. Her breath smells slightly fishy, but only if i take a really deep whiff into her beak.

I can’t isolate her until the weekend. I have school and nothing to keep her in.

I’m gonna try to limit feed tomorrow for her. I have vet-prescribed antibiotics on hand, but have been hesitant to use them because they could disturb her more of bacteria is not the issue. They were given to me before her crop went sour. I can buy Miconazole tomorrow and start her on that.

I’ve never dealt with sour crop before, please help me!! Should I do antibiotics or Mizonazole!

She still eats and drinks as the fermentation is just starting. I have her on Hydro Hen probiotics/electrolytes.

I had the three day one, I have a finger nail amount twice a day until it ran out. I also did coconut oil and massages.

To administer, I had the hen on my right thigh facing out. Used my left hand to open her beak and had the cream on my right hand to scrape it on the inside corner of her beak. I've read where people said their hens ate it freely...I haven't had that experience.

I have acidified copper sulfate. I'm gonna start it when I am able to isolate her over the weekend.

If anyone has any experience with copper sulfate, please let me know!

Her breath smells pretty fishy if i smell it close.
