As much as we tried to prevent it, my chickens ate some dead Japanese beetles that kept falling from a tree treated with liquid Sevin. The Sevin was not wet on the beetles. We are getting fewer eggs every day. Is this related?

I agree with the post above, and also, don't use pesticides near your flock! Everyone will be much healthier if you use natural approaches instead of poison. If you can, just deal with the beatles and let your flock eat them. Then you won't have to worry about them eating poisoned bugs.

I know some people treat their chickens with Sevin dust for severe lice/mite infestations. I did a bit of googling, and looks like the same ingredient, carbaryl, is in both. So assuming they didn't eat massive quantities of them, seems like eating a few beetles off a carbaryl-treated tree would be less exposure than a full-body dusting. Just my thoughts. My chickens are slowing down a little on the laying now too. I think it's the heat and some are starting to molt.
