Chickens eating gophers?

Hey all, I haven't seen this topic yet, thought I'd ask...

We have a bunch of gophers in our vegetable patch this year - and are trapping them one by one to get rid of them.

Given our chickens love big bugs, I was thinking about tossing the dead gophers to the birds to see if they'd like them. I'm pretty sure they'd attack the think and eat it pretty quick - but wondering if anyone's heard of gophers carrying disease, etc. that might be harmful to the chickens? I know they eat mice, but not sure about gophers.

I grill possums and coons to feed the chickens.
I don't think I'd throw a whole raw one to them just in case.
