chihuahua's and chickens

can chihuahua's and chickens ever get along?
I'm getting my first batch of chickens mid september and I have 3 chihuahua's...The best spot to build the hen house is near the dog run...do you think they will eventually learn to live with eachother?
My friend has a small farm and her dogs don't bother the chickens but they have been around the chickens since the dogs were born....my dogs are 1, 9months, and 2

I have a Chihuahua and she loves the chickens. When she is in the middle of them I can't tell them apart as she is the same size....lol

My mom has a 12 yr old, 5 pound Chi and the chickens were 5 times his size, he didn't care about them but they were very interested in him. He would go sniffing around the yard and they were following him at what they thought was a safe distance and he would turn in their direction they'd run off a distance. This went on for a while until they believe the Chihuahua wouldn't hurt them and they ignored him after that. It was fun to watch!

I also didn't let the chasing go back and forth too much, not for fear of the dog hurting the chickens but I didn't want the chickens hurting the dog!!! He's so small and he wouldn't hurt a fly. He'd be no match for my hens!!!

I have two chis and they will not go into the run. They absolutely refuse to go in. I've tried because they were good with the chickies when they were babies. Both of the chihuahuas will follow me around from around the outside of the run!

My chihuahua (my avatar) is very good with my chickens, it's them i have to worry about hurting her lol same goes for the ducks!

My Husband wanted a lap dog so I brought her home to him. I was worried about having a Chihuahua. But, man she is a GREAT pup!!!

No "Chihuahua Issues" what so ever!
