Hello!

I’m just wondering if there any color variations to the normal colors of Chinese quail?
For example can you get different variations of silver Chinese quail? I have cinnamon, normal, and silver Chinese quail so I’m just curious to know if some of them could be different than just the usual colors.
I can post pics if needed!

Thank you!

I've got photos of my girls if that helps - they are all in the aviary at the moment which makes it a lot easier to photograph them. They were taking advantage of me leaving the bird feeder on the ground!
Here's a normal silver at the top, light silver and an ivory:

It's my current theory that that caramel colour at the bottom of the photo has some kind of diluting effect.

These are my brown girls in their three shades:

On the left is the diluted form of the wild colour (exactly the same markings but lacking the blackness of the wild), that's the wild in the middle and a cinnamon on the right.

That's pretty much it for the colours we have in NZ.

This is the best information that I've been able to find in relation to our genetics:

You'll have to scroll down a bit to find the info. I wish he'd included photos!

I'm wondering if Bronze is what he calls the dilute colour as that's appeared in my birds because of that caramel colour.

Wow thank you so much!! I didn’t realise we were both from NZ! That’s really interesting about the colors. I’ll post some pics of mine. I was also wondering if you can get rebreasted silver male quail or do all the males have redbreasts?

These are 3 of my quail. The cinnamon and normal are quite young and the silver is over a year old. Are they just the normal colors or do they have slightly different variations?

I have 4 other quail as well as these 3. My other 4 are a cinnamon female, cinnamon male, normal female and a silver male.

That’s strange because my 2 cinnamon females are the exact some colors as your caramel one!

Jealous! You have such pretty colours over there, and I don't think we get cinnamon in the UK! I'd happily stand corrected though! Even your silvers don't look like mine @JaeG, mine are more like yours @Flight Feathers

Here’s the 2 cinnamon females and silver male and silver male back when they were all in one aviary together (now I have my 7 quail split between 3 avaries)
