Chipmunks: Thought they were cute at first... but

Now I suspect they are eating my Mallard eggs. I just found a tunnel under a board in the chicken coop. And I've noticed them eating the chicken food, but now at the duck coop on I saw one hanging out in there. And I'm wondering if it's stealing duck eggs. Because my ducks haven't layed in 2 days... And I guess that could be perfectly normal for a duck, but I'm wondering.

So anyone have an experience with chipmunks eating their duck eggs? They are mallards so the eggs are smaller than your normal duck egg. (You know what I mean.)

Rats, yes - squirrels, maybe - chipmunks, I don't know.

Make it almost impossible to get to, like running screen on the floor then see if u are still missing eggs.

Really doubt it. More likely rats.

I've been thinking about it and doing some research and I kind of doubt it too. I would think they would leave the eggs alone when they have the feed available. I have never seen a rat here though. I'll be watching for them now.

And maybe it's just a spuratic egg laying moment for my ducks. I just think it's a little odd that no one layed an egg in 2 days.

Ok, something is definitely not right here. My ducks didn't lay again today. I have the same 6 eggs in the nest that were there 2 days ago. So either my hens have just stopped laying all the sudden or something is stealing the eggs. Also, I have 2 chickens that lay religiously every morning and today I only got 1 egg. There should be 2.

So tell me what the warning signs are for rats. Because something is amiss. In the meantime, I'm going to check threads.
