Chicken parents, meet Peggy Sue. She is one of 3 hens I brought home about 2 weeks ago. She came with a buff Orpington (Ginger) who hasn’t started laying yet, and a lavender Ameraucana with crossbeak named Violet Slobberchicken- yea thank my 3 year old who very proudly named her that😂.
Anyway, Peggy Sue was sold to me as a cinnamon queen. HOWEVER I just got my first egg yesterday. Just before I found it, Ms.Peggy Sue was pacing the run in and out of the coop making a big ole scene. She’s usually quiet so I went to make sure there weren’t any predators or anything bothering her. I sat inside the run for a while. After about 45mins of her dramatics, she finally stayed in the coop for like 20mins and then started squawking loudly. I figured she was signing her song so I let her be for a bit. Went back out to the coop and 🥚! Then I saw the color and thought well dang maybe Violet Slobberchicken (my Ameraucana) laid this egg when I went inside but Peggy’s behavior really had me thinking it was hers. But today around the same time, Peggy Sue went back in the coop for about 20mins and when she came out I went to check and 🥚. Now today I watched and neither of my other girls went into the coop- HOW is Peggy Sue laying greenish eggs?!?

Our "Goldie" looks like her twin - sold to us as a Golden Comet. One year of age and has never laid an egg - and probably never will. Happy for your green egg - that's cool.
