It's hard to see in the photo. But, this duckling has a gray/cloudy eye and the lids don't seem to work as well as her other eye. She closes it a lot and it seems a little goopy, as well. I have a feeling she's going to be blind, at least partially, if not completely in that eye if I can't help her. And she may be blind no matter what I do. But, I wondered if any of you had any tricks up your sleeves that might help us out, just in case it's something that can be helped. She hatched on Monday in Springfield, MO and was shipped to me overnight. I received her and 2 sisters yesterday. Unfortunately, one of them didn't make it and died last night. :( I have these 2 left and the one - Harriet my hubby calls her (LOL) - has this cloudy eye. The other seems perfect. ...Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.

You can start rinsing her eyes in a saline solution or you can go to TSC and buy some Veterycin spray it's for infection and begin spraying the eye out a couple times a day. any other symptoms beside the eye? and sorry you lost one of the littles. if you go to TSC get some poultry vitamins and begin using them in their water it will help them get started in the right direction from their trip.

No other symptoms. No. The other little girl pecks at her a bit. I just move the instigator somewhere else when she does that.

Thanks for the tips!! These are my first shipped ducklings. My other 3 came to me other ways.

And that could been what started the eye thing to begin with she may have gotten pecked in transit. I really like Veterycin it is very safe and can be sprayed into the eyes and face. I haven't used saline but know many on here who have. If you feel there is infection there is also Terrimycin eye ointment that most feed stores carry you could look into that also. Let us know how she is.
