Cochin.....Standard vs Bantam?

Bantam! They are easier & cheaper to keep, cuter, and more popular, and cheaper to ship.

The two main things I would think about raising LF versus Bantam is space and feed. They are a very large bird that require lots of space and a bird that size also requires a lot of feed for them to grow properly and maintain good health as adults. As far as personality, I only raise bantams but have many friends that raise LF they are just as nice as the bantams.

Good luck,

Well, I never wanted any at all. I just didn't like the look of them but got some from a swap (a blue pullet and a black pullet) then I also got a red roo in a swap, all of them bantams. Then I saw some mottled cochin bantams on here and they were so pretty and I got some eggs and hatched just one then got more eggs and hatched just one. I am still trying to decide if they are male or females but I think they are beautiful. Anyway, I guess I am hooked on the bantams. I did have a red standard cochin but sold him along with the other roosters.
Oh, I guess, if I had enough room, I would get one of everything

Lovely. I have standard and bantam and think they are all great. They are still young though so I haven't really noticed alot of difference in size.

I do have a question on combs and wattles. Do pullets have combs and or wattles or do they not? I have some with and some without and am not sure if the ones without are just not as developed.

I would love to see some examples of hens and Roos. Plus I have some Frizzle Cochins and am totally lost as to their sex too.

Do cochin roos have pointy saddle feathers?

Yes, pullets do have combs and wattles, they are much smaller then the male but apparent at maturity.

Do cochin roos have pointy saddle feathers?

Yep sure do and pointly hackle feathers also.
