Comb is like no others.

I believe I bought Barnevelder chicks (2) along with 6 other different breeds. They are all close to 8 weeks old and every one of them has little combs popping up but my Barnevelders are completely flat. There are no combs like the teeth of a comb popping up. Is this normal?

Those are gold laced Wyandottes, not Barnevelders. All of your other chickens have single combs. Wyandottes have a different comb type called a rose comb which are flat.

You're not the only one. Chicks getting mixed up is a very common occurrence.

does the black hen here have a rose comb as well? she was supposed to be an Orpington but she's smaller than the others and has this flat smooth comb. Could anyone clarify what type of comb she has? I can't confirm it myself.
