Eastern WI - almost to the Lake
Hi all,

I heard about chicken keepers putting down boards since bugs will gather under them, and then flipping it over to let the chickens chow them down. This seems like a great idea, concentrating the bugs that are already there in one place for easy picking by the chickens.

Anyone here doing this?
Is one day/night enough time, is two days better?
I wonder if wood is best, or is something like 5 gallon pail lids would work just as well.

Curious all of your thoughts.

Yep. They'll get to know what you're doing and be ready.

The best thing is when hubby is hauling wood from the stack to the house, or when we run the wood splitter, the chickens know and come running. A lot of times there's a hive of ants or other bugs inside of a tree.
