Constantly Chirping Chick

She's in distress and probably in pain. The most common cause for this age bracket is constipation. Either, due to insufficient water or eating things that require grit, a chicken can become backed up with hard stools, and in straining to poop, the vent becomes swollen and painful.

First, clean the vent gently with a warm water soaked cotton ball. Then smooth on some Vaseline. If the vent is swollen, use cortisone cream on it. Do not rub the delicate tissue or it will make it worse.

Next, measue out a teaspoon of coconut oil. Chill slightly so you can form tiny balls just the size to easily pop into the tiny beak. Get all one teaspoon into the chick. Place her back with the others as long as they aren't hurting her. Watch her carefully. If she becomes worse, report back here, and we'll try to advise.

Thank you. I gave her some yogurt and apple cider vinegar. I'll try this next. She seems to be eating fine.
