I've been treating (successfully) for coccidiosis. I'm on day 7 treating with 2 teaspoons Corid per gallon of water. Tomorrow I will begin a 7 - 14 day treatment of 1/2 teaspoon per gallon. It's been really hot and humid here in central Indiana and it's going to be hot and humid for the foreseeable future.

Their appetites are down. I gave them yogurt a little while ago and normally they inhale that stuff but not today. They aren't eating their wet mash of their medicated starter feed and they aren't drinking as much either. I put frozen water bottles in their waterer. They are eating and drinking SOME because I see them do it. It's just down.

QUESTION 1: Is this from the Corid/coccidiosis or just the heat?

They are acting fine but walking around with open beaks and panting. I'm trying to leave them alone so not to over-excite them due to the heat. I have a large furnace blower motor blowing air through their run with 2 smaller fans down low. One fan in their coop window and at night I put ice blocks behind the fan to blow the cold air from them.

I understand electrolytes should be added to the water and increasing their protein is helpful since they aren't eating as much.

QUESTION 2: Is it ok to combine electrolytes with Corid?

I understand that after a treatment of Corid I should give electrolytes and vitamins to replace what's been lost due to the Corid.

QUESTION 3: When should I start all of this? With this heat I really need to do something now but I'm new at all of this and need help with properly feeding them to get them through this crazy heat and coccidiosis treatment.

Thanks so much for your helps!

7 days of Corid is usually enough.
If they are all pooping fine and seem healed from the coccidiosis I personally see no point in continuing with the Corid.
BUT only if you are 99.99% sure they are better from the coccidiosis outbreak.

If you want to continue the Corid I see no problem with adding a second waterer with electrolytes. I don't think you should mix the electrolytes with the Corid water.

I posted a picture a few days ago and Casportpony said if they were his chickens this is what he would do. I was going to stop at 5 days but I was still seeing blood although it was decreasing.

Let me go look for that photo. BRB
I'm thinking you better continue the reduced dose and hold off on adding any vitamins.

to replace what's been lost due to the Corid.
Corid only inhibits Thiamine. Thiamine is what cocci thrives on, remove the thiamine, the cocci starves and dies. Corid doesn't remove anything else.
IT IS WISE to supply a nutrition supplement such as nutridrench. Vitamins and electrolytes help the recovery as well. But not because of Corid. Because the birds need nutrition to recover from illness.
This is an excellent supplement. It is concentrate. Makes 128 gallons or .97 grams per gallon of clean water.
