Cornish Cross Weight at 8 Weeks?

I understand that Cornish X's should be slaughtered at about 9 weeks of age and males will be around 10 pounds, females around 8. Is this true? Or are these numbers too high?
You could process them as early as 6 weeks, depending on what size you want. A Cornish-X you see in the store is 4-5 lbs and only 6 weeks old. I like them a little larger and older, then 8-10 weeks depending on how you feed them will get you to that weight. Weigh them live and figure you will get 2/3 of that as dinner.:drool

Weighed mine yesterday at 41 days old. Average weight was 6 lbs 1 oz, plus or minus 7 oz, mostly females but didn't check each. I'm harvesting at 50 days old. On current trend, appears they'll be around 8 lbs at 50 days (7 weeks). Gained more than 2 lbs/week last 2 weeks, but rate of growth slows. A friend who harvests 2 Million chickens per week harvests at 6 weeks recommended 7 weeks, as he said the meat can begin to toughen after about 8 weeks, and the feed conversion ratio (amount they eat vs. what they gain) drops each week after about 6 weeks.

I might raise a few cornish cross meat birds, thinking about it. What is a estimate amount of feed in pounds for 6 weeks for 1 bird? trying to put a very rough estimate of cost together for feed. Thanks in advance

between 8 to 10 pounds, but this depends how you manage that feed, if you have stuff that prevents waste. If you also give them other stuff / or free range...

You would need to do the math with your local feed prices.

Thanks, I did find a chart and between the comments. 6 to 7 week bird take 8 to 14 lb feed. 6 week bird take approximatley 10 pound feed. I am just looking at roundabout cost buying, raising, I probably pay the Amish for butchering.

Thanks again
