I'm wondering about using corrugated roof panesl (either the metal, or possibly the plastic) on the new coop we're building and how they handle snow? We get quite a bit of snow, and live in an area where we can get significant amounts (upwards of 12in) over-night when the lake-effect kicks in. I'm assuming it works well, provided that the roof pitch is adequate, but would like to get feedback from someone(s) who may have used it. Thanks!

I use both the metal and the plastic, but we don't have half as much snow as you!

ETA: the metal will definitely cope with the load. We used just one strip of the plastic to act as a skylight, so that should be ok for you. I wouldn't know if a whole roof of the plastic would hold the snow; it certainly wouldn't take the weight of my other half walking across it like the metal does!

With any roofing, it depends on the structure holding up the roof. If you apply standard structural building codes for a roof, doesn't matter what roofing you use.

I'm going to install 12 foot metal roofing on my run. Does anyone know the recommended width for stringers. We get allot of Snow.
