I'm thinking of purchasing this playhouse for Costco and converting it to a coop for 4 large hens. It seems like it is bigger and cuter than anything I could buy for the same amount of money.
Thoughts?

I live in a suburban area outside of Minneapolis with close neighbors.

Very cute, and it should house 4 hens comfortably. I would be sure to seal it very well to prevent rot, and because it is made of cedar. According to the reviews the only negative seems to be that it is a big job to assemble.

That is pretty cute for a good price. The things that might need extra modifications:

Roof probably is not fully leak proof. Leaks create stinky bedding.

I wonder if you would need to make modifications to prevent warping of wood.

You would need functional shutters in the winter.

Once you consider adding nest boxes, weather proofing, roosts, hardware cloth and shutters over the windows it might make you look again at the prefab chicken coops even if they are not as cute.
