I am a newbie, but my family raised chickens when I was young. I remember my dad using cottonseed hull bedding in our brooders. Does anyone use that anymore? I went to our local Feed & Seed store today and inquired about bedding options in prepartion for getting our babies. They have both pine shaving, which I'm considering since I am planning to use the deep litter method, but also have the cottonseed hulls which I remember as being so soft. What do all you expert BYCers recommend?
