Coyotes howling in the night, then POW!

My granddaughter was frightened by a coyote howling in the night. I went out on the deck to listen and near as I could tell it was just 1 or 2 properties south of me. He howled again, then POW. Someone shot him.

I guess that is one less threat to my chickens.

My husband has hunted coyotes a few times but has never had any luck. Someone's a good shot!!

I agree. My father never could nail one of these or the timber wolves we used to have around our farm years ago.

They seem to have a unique ability to vaporize like phantoms when someone breaks out a rifle. :0)

I guess I'm sick. I do love to hear them howl though.

I don't like killing animals..... I know it's necessary in lots of cases...(but all that's a whole 'nother subject..lol) ANYWAY.... we have coyotes around this year for the first time in a few years and they've been howling every night this week. (i HATE that noise) they haven't come too close to the house yet but it does worry me.
My mom had coy-dogs in her YARD last fall.... so close that she's got pictures of them... that was before she got her shot gun..... ironic they haven't been back since she got that.......
