I'm new to the chicken life. My husband and I bought 8 peeps (1 pair of each breed) from our local co-op store. Turns out one is a rooster without a doubt. About 3 weeks later we purchased 2 week old Polish Pullets (2 black and 2 silver laced) and was just informed today that 2 of those may be roosters. We have 3 silkie hens in another pin with 1 silkie rooster. We just want to have a few eggs from the flock that we raised from babies for eating and would like to hatch out some peeps from them all. Right now they are too young to know what's going to happen. We are from the Shenandoah Valley in Virginia.

Silkies are very difficult to sex before 4-5 mos. of age and sometimes not till they lay or crow. Buying young chicks is always a mighty gamble. Polish can be hard to sex as well.

:welcome
