This is Genghis & He’s auditioning to be “The” Rooster. But not being sure what exactly he will pass down is giving me pause.

He’s a 12 week old BYM that I hatched. I think he’s an Icelandic maybe Ameracauna cross??? I know they had both. I don’t think he’s full Icelandic, but who knows.

He has a Mohawk, was chipmunk colored as a chick & is generally smaller in size & is from a light brown smallish egg.

His coloring is just gorgeous. There are patches so red it looks like blood. Plus the pops of grey stripes are just so pretty. Hes one of 2 that survived a dog attack & is very bonded to his 55 Flowery GF.

Any thoughts on what he might be or if any of that red will pass along to future generations?

My first Rhode Island was a chipmunk looking chick. This one here definitely looks like a Rhode Island Red dominant. Those different colored feathers are very interesting.

Some of his red is RED like I’ve not seen before. Plus he has this sparkly iridescence. I’d think if he was 1/2 RIR he’d be bigger? He was so small as a chick that I double checked to be sure there were no secret bantams in the flock. I can’t get over how pretty he is.

What breeds are the possible parents?
He lists these
* Icenlandic
* lavender and Columbian and laced wyandottes
*Rhode Island Red
* Barred Rocks
*white and brown leg horns
* splash and buff and lavender Orpingtons
* Australorps
*Dominique
*Ameracauna

But I got such a wild mix from this guy. I wound up hatching a Zombie, a Cuckoo Marans cross and a naked neck plus this flashy little guy. Maybe he is full Icelandic, but I have not seen any that are this red & grey & shiny. His cowlick/mohawk is a vibe.
