My 9 year old had a Rainbow Ranger cockerel that went to the farm, but she keeps asking for a similar looking chickie to keep. She has severe anxiety and a difficult time with change, so chicken keeping in general is hard for her :/ I’m hoping to find a crele coloured breed that’s gentle and preferably likes to be held, but general friendliness is fine too. Bielefelder is high on the list, but looking at all the options

i really recommend bielefelders i had a surprise hatch back in September. i have 4 wonderful cockerels that i am selling. but i can not sell any of them to you because i have them for sell on other online websites. but i did a google search and there is a Crele Orpington so you could look for those. Poodlemum what state do you live in?

I personally love crele modern game bantams.

Too bad you're not closer, I've got a lovely mixed crele male I'm trying to find a home for

If you're looking for large fowl birds, Bielefelders are probably your best bet as far as ease of acquiring them. They're solid birds and my experience with them is that they're quite gentle. Orpingtons also come in Crele, but it's not standardized and I don't think it's a very common variety so it might be tough to find them.

If size isn't a problem, Crele Old English Game bantams are beautiful, sweet little birds, but they are very tiny! That makes them easier to handle, but they can be more prone to being injured by larger birds and picked off by predators, and some of mine struggle with the cold in winter, so those are some things to consider before getting them.

I’m in Utah, but definitely looking for a hen. Most of our chick orders will be straight run bantams and we’ll have a hard enough time parting with those. Thank you though!

I’m guessing we’ll have to heat the bantams coop here in Utah, so either size is fine! Tiny is adorable, but we do have hawks. Planning an enclosed run or Chunnel for sure. Everything keeps coming back to the Bielefelder as our best bet and I know we’ve got some locally as well

I have two flocks of 10 or so 2 year old hens and one rooster. Bielefelders are a great breed prized for large carcasses, big brown eggs, friendly, cold tolerant, beautiful feathers, true auto sexing. Great free range bird, usually don't wander too far from shelter, water and food. My birds have only been given non-GMO feed and kitchen scrapes. Purchased from Murray McMurray and Cackle Hatcheries and given Marek’s Disease and Coccidiosis vaccine at hatchery.
Family circumstances has made it difficult to keep these flocks for now, but we hope to buy again and recommend this breed to anyone.
Feel welcome to contact with questions.
i found some bielefelders for sell on craislist but don't know if it is to far away for you.
