Cross breeding ducks

Ive been thinking about developing my own breed of duck(s), although I’m not to sure how that will go.

The birds I’m thinking about breeding together are some pekins and mallards to then breed the offspring to an Indian Runner and breed back to a mallard (I’m not very sure what that will create).

The second one I’ve kinda already started. I bred these two bantam ducks to my Mallard drake and they produced a very beautiful duck. I’m hoping to breed these ducks again with a mallard to hopefully get some young drakes and ducks to then breed to something else.

What crossbred ducks do you have?

Have an end goal in mind. What are you looking for in a duck? Meat, eggs, exhibition?
If you're going to breed a mallard to anything larger than it, the mallard should be the male. Otherwise, a mallard duck could get hurt breeding with a larger drake.

I too was wondering why you selected those breeds, as in what traits are you breeding for? What is your goal?

I’m looking for something that I should different. I want to breed a duck that is friendly and has a shinny body. I also want to be able to show it.

The one that’s going to be bred with a pekin could be the standard size and the small one could be the bantam. I’ll just have to keep my eye out for some pekins with the body type I need (Ill probably not use any Indian runner).

I’ll try to get pics of the crossbred I really like and her parents.

I imagined crossbreeding a Jumbo Pekin with an Indian runner and a Cayuga: A large black running duck as a result
