Crossbeak chick from My Pet Chicken hatchery

We just received our My Pet Chicken order and our partridge Cochin has a very obvious scissorbeak . It makes me sad!

Poor chick. Have you contacted the hatchery and told them about this? They might be able to give you a refund.

Are you planning on keeping it? I suggest giving it deep water and food dishes when it gets older. (A regular chick waterer is fine for now.) As it gets older, you will want to file her beak down every 2-4 weeks, which you can do with an emery board nail file. As the chick grows, her beak will most likely get worst and may need to be tube fed. We lost her She was doing great, playing,chirping, eating, drinking when we went to bed and then when we got up the next morning she had passed away right by the heat plate.

I am so sorry.

Sometimes there is more wrong than just the abnormality we can see. It sounds like she had at least a few good weeks with you as her human.
