Visiting many exhibitions and breeders I figuerd out that most chicken breeds have their breed-distinctiv crow sound. This could be an argument if you choose a certain breed - for you and your neighbors. Some crows sound nice, gentle and deep. Other crows sound (maybe?) a bit annoying. My favorit crows are from Cochin, Bielefelder and Favorelles. I produced a video where you may listen to the crows of the following breeds:
Amrock, Araucana, Asil, Augsburger, Australorp, Barnevelder, Bielefelder, New Hampshire, Brahma, Chabo, Cochin, Favorelles, the man in the high castle, Dorking rooster, booted bantam, Hamburg, German bantam, Jersey Giant, Marans, Niederrheiner, Easter Friesian Gull, Saxony, Silky, Sultan, Shamo, Sussex, Nacked Neck bantam, Rode Island Red, Wyandotte bantam, Crevecoeur HEN

What is you favorite crow?

Who knew it could be so much fun to listen to roosters crow? Most brought a smile to my face and some made me laugh out loud! I don't know how to choose a favorite, but I really enjoyed your crowing hen!

Yes! I personally find it hard to tell what (or if ?) crow is annoying for itself.
The hen is for sure very special. She allways had to clap her wings when she crowed. It was a time when the rooster passed to another breeder (very rare breed) and the young roosters where still to small to know they could crow. This crowing hen layed - before crowing - only unfertilised eggs. After she started crowing she stopt laying eggs completely.

bantams of all kinds

Bantams crows are not as loud as large fowl roosters. That is an advantage. But for some breeds the pitch is a bit more shrill. At least in my ears.

Here's one for your collection. Odin the Danish Brown Leghorn rooster, recorded when he was a 3 month old (approximate age) stud. It has been "tripled up," i.e., I took the single crowing and combined it into a .wav file with the crowing repeated 3 times. This has been the default ring tone for my cell phone for over 20 years now. Do you remember, in the early days of cell phones how the cell phone companies wanted to "sell" you ringtones? Not on my watch you predators!

This is an old post but MUST respond to the wonderful video. I especially like this video because it celebrates roosters!! My favorite crows come from the larger rooster breeds. I especially love the Sussex crow. I do not enjoy the crow of bantam rooster as much; however. I love roosters!
