We live in a very marshy area of the TX gulf coast. In turn, we have a ridiculous mosquito population. As in 'run to your car or you'll get carried away by hundress of bloodsuckers'. The only thing that saves our summers from the nasty creatures is a product called Bugfree Backyard by Cutter. This stuff is made of 2.5% permethrin and kills not only mosquitos but every bug in the yard. As soon as its sprayed we have a flock of wild birds gobbling up all the dying insects.

So, question is this. We're really wanting to get a small flock for our backyard (coop is ready to go). But do we have to give up our precious Cutter product? I wouldn't think it would be healthy for our chickens to be eating dead bugs killed by permethrin. But would like to hear all of your thoughts! The product states it is safe for "pets" once the product has dried. But of course our dogs aren't out there eating insects. Also, we're wanting laying hens for eggs.
Thanks in advance!
