Dawn on Dogs to Kill Fleas?

I haven't had much experience with a flea-infested house. Now as far as my mother goes, that just might be another story. : D We have used the Comfortis flea and tick pills on our pets with great success. It works within thirty minutes of giving it to your cat or dog and will continue doing so for about a month. Our vet told us that it works better than anything else you could give your pet and it really has been true for us. I hope you find a solution that works...soon!!! : ) Fleas certainly aren't fun to deal with.

We only had an issue with fleas in the house once, about 20 years ago. Had a cat that had a flea explosion. Anyway, tried everything under the sun and finally had a pest company come out and fog the house. No more problems. These days I use Frontline or Advantage on all my dogs and cats every month. No flea problems at all.

Frontline kills fleas ON the dog/cat
It will NOT kill fleas in your carpet, and won't keep new eggs from hatching

Daily vacuuming and Borax in all carpets is the best solution, but it's not good for indoor pets

Yes, I know it won't help the carpet, I was at least hoping it would get rid of them off of the dog lol but instead of Borax I use salt and DE mixed. I'm making some progress but it truly has been a nightmare with fleas for so many people. I just can't believe how bad they are.
Of you look on the shelves at Walmart, flea meds and Borax are all sold out lol

How often do you administer the spinosad orallly? Once a month like Comfortis?

I have done it with my three dogs, works great on the ones on them at the time but has no residual kill.. If you really want them all dead for a low cost try this http://www.amazon.com/Monterey-Spin...=UTF8&qid=1343880063&sr=8-3&keywords=spinosad. Spinosad is the active ingredient in Comfortis once a month tablet, and is in a glycol suspension. I put a capfull on a piece of bread and feed it to my 50 lb+ dogs.. They will start scratching like crazy in 30min to 1 hours as the fleas start to die.. I also mix about 1 ounce up in a 32 oz sprayer and spray bedding, carpet and the dogs topically.

Kills the fleas on the dogs when they bite, new eggs will hatch babies will bite and they will die, after a couple of cycles you will be pretty much flea free.

Off label but have been using it for the last four years and the lack of fleas is great.

It also has been working great for spraying around the chicken run and house for flys, works good in the garden also.

You said you spray it around the chicken run? Can you spray it directly on the chickens? Or on their dirt bath?
