So some background: month ago we ordered eggs of eBay. 10 of them came; didn't know you were supposed to let them set so they were put in the incubator as soon as we got them. 3 of them were quitters prior to day 10. Six hatched a day early to day 21. All 6 had hatched without issue or help and had the pips in the correct spot.

It's within a couple hours of day 24 with the last egg having no signs of pipping or movement. I candled the last egg for less then 20 seconds last night and didn't see an internal pip. I don't recall seeing any/or many veins so I don't know if this one is still viable. From what I remember there was still veins on day 17. I've read the water test can help determine if a chick is still alive, would this be safe? I know you aren't supposed to do it if there's a pip but would it hurt them if they haven't started yet? Or should I just go straight to a safety hole? Not a 100% sure what to start with and I don't want to rush things but I'm starting to get a little worried.

Additionally, the incubator was accidentally knocked into a couple days before but the rest of the eggs hatched fine. Yesterday i noticed the humidity dipped down into 48% would that hurt the chick even if it didn't pip? If you were in this situation what would you do/suggest?

Don't know if it matters but it's a LG still air Styrofoam incubator

What temperature and humidity were you using? Unfortunately, shipped eggs have pretty low success rates, even under the best circumstances. I know there's a difference in how you incubate depending on still air vs forced air but I'll have to check. Can you please post pictures of the eggs?
"

HOWEVER, when using a Still Air incubator (no fan) at 102º F. The reason for different temperatures is that with a fan model the circulating air warms all around the egg while still air temperatures are warmer at the top of the egg than at the bottom" -Sally sunshine

it was 101.5 before lockdown which i lowered to 99.6 it's 99.3 right now with the heater on. we were doing dry incubation and started adding water for humidity at lockdown

it's only one egg in the incubator(as the other ones have hatched been in the brooder for a few days now)
I'm satisfied having 60% hatch rate but wanted to see if i could help the last one or if it's too late

the egg that's in there is a brown egg but no changes in appearances from the outside, the egg also had G written on it and i don't know what was meant by it

Candle the egg, it's probably a quitter.

I would start investigating if it was mine, but I'm not patient at all.
It depends on how patient you are.
Does the egg smell bad?
No smell at all, I think i'm gonna do the water test to see if still viable at this point.

update: egg floated around 35-40% somewhat on it's side with no movement. Suspecting late death but not certain

update #2: opened the egg and the chick had died, the yolk sack wasn't absorbed and the membrane seemed dry, but could've been from the safety hole i did last night
