Dead chicken with multiple issues (I'm not sure what forum section is fitting sorry)

Hi everyone,

A few months ago I made a post about a hen who was wobbly because she was being harassed by our rooster. Everything went back to normal and the rooster calmed down, but this morning I found the same hen dead on the coop floor.

The things I noticed were:
Blood on the tips of her comb
Beak chipped at the tip
Pecking marks all over her neck along with blood
A extremely bloody vent
Blood spots around the coop
Blood spot in one of their nesting boxes

I tried to find a few posts about these things happening to other peoples hens, but none of them were all together.. ex: Bloody vent but no pecking, pecking but no bloody vent

I was just wondering if this is something anyone else has seen, or if anyone has other ideas of what happened for clarity. Thanks <3

A chicken that is acting off (sick) will attract unwanted attention from the rest of the flock. It is normal behavior for herd/flock animals to outcast and even attack an individual who is not doing well. I can’t say for sure they killed her or did the damage after she died but it sounds like a crime scene to me. Can you get photos of the damage?

I know it sounds gross but doing a necropsy to see what’s been going on inside isn’t a bad idea either. That could point you to why the vent was so bloody if there was no pecking from the others happening in that area. I suspect a reproductive problem. Had she been laying normally?
