Debug spanish moss

I want to use spanish moss as bedding but How do you debug it? I heard off microwaving it but my mom would think i was crazy and plus it sounds dangerous XD i also heard of putting it in hot salt water or soap water. i was thinking of buying poultry protector and spraying it down. Do you think that would kill bugs too?

Ill probably have to boil lots of pots of water XD
But anyway upon my own research i learned that chiggers only live in moss thats fallen to the ground not ones in the trees shich brings me to worrying about disease from other birds so i probably wont use it Xc
