Hi everyone! We're awaiting our first chicks' arrival at the end of April. I'd like to build the Third Coast Craftsman coop for them (once they're ready, of course!) but I'd like to use the deep litter method, which isn't what the coop is designed for. Have you used the deep litter method with the Third Coast Craftsman coop? Any tips, thoughts, concerns? Thanks so much! This is all new for us!

Thanks so much! There's plenty to learn about all this chicken stuff and I'm happy to learn it! I think I'll have to do some adjustments to the coop design to make deep bedding work but I'll cross that bridge...

Maybe this will help, there are other threads here if you search google.

Learn the difference between deep bedding and deep litter.
Deep bedding will work, deep litter is a moist composting and really only works with ground contact.

but I'll cross that bridge...
Best to plan ahead. ;)

Thanks! I'll keep doing my research. And, yup, I'm planning ahead. By "I'll cross that bridge" I meant once I'm building the coop but long before my hens will need to move in!
