I have an abundance of dewberries/blackberries (depending on what you want to call them). This is not on the list of treats but I was wondering if anyone has ever given this to their chicks/chickens. Mine are not a week old yet but I thought they might enjoy a few here and there. I just wanted other's opinions first.

Thanks!!

Blackberries are OK to give to chicks/chickens.
Just a small amount, and maybe chopped for chicks that are less than a week old. Chick grit will help them digest it.

Yes they are fine and a favorite treat for mine, don't be surprised when their poop turns blue! And too many are a bit of a diuretic...moderation is key
I give them whole berries 'cause half of the fun is watching them play keep away and helping each other tear it up. Too funny.

Mine love any of the berries. Strawberries are some my silkies favorite treats. I do limit how much I give them because it does give them runny poop.

Thank you all very much for the replies! I will give them a small amount. I did give them yogurt this morning but they had no interest in it. I will keep trying though. I really want them to be my friend so I thought the more treats I have the more they will like me!

With chickens it's all about the food.

They are often afraid of new foods, might take several tries before they get over it. You can try mixing something they like with the new food.

i give my big birds all kinds of berrys but they eat them when i get them for them but they will eat them up and anything like greens and brocli and colaflower to

there is a very complete list of treats for chickens on this web site, I don't know how to link it to you but just search treats...what I like is it compiles those things you should not give and what's toxic...a short list
If you want your chickens to like you give them the good parts of the fruit, they know if you give them junk!! Hahaha. I have read bits where people threw the tops and stems in and the chickens didn't eat it---? Have you ever tasted that..yuck. they love those ripe to the point of almost gone, really.
