My Easter Egger had bad diarrhea all last summer. I sent her stool for a test and it came back positive for roundworms. So I treated all the chickens with Panacur. They were great all winter. The diarrhea started again on my Easter Egger a few months ago. It is very loose and dark brown. I treated her with the Panacur again. I did it once then again 10 days later. The diarrhea continued. It's amazing that her eggs are clean. She is happy and healthy otherwise. Someone recommended that I try Wyzine. So I treated the entire flock this time as it has been roughly a year since I did them all. 1 Tbs. per gallon of water for 24 hours. Her diarrhea continues. I need to give them the second dose in 3 days.

Any idea what it could be or what I can try to do before I send for another stool test?

Is it hot?
If so, it could just be that she's drinking a TON of water!
My girls often do this and all they need is some electrolyte water.

I agree with chickengirl778 - same here. It's hot and they are drinking lots of water and are having runny poo. Not every poo is runny but a good number are more of a squirt than any substance. It's hot here at the moment, in the 20s ('C) / early 70s ('F) which is warm for us!

Do you have a photo of the Panacur you used? Panacur is Fenbendazole - that should take care of most worms if the correct dosage and length of treatment is followed.

It would be a good idea to have another fecal float performed.

What are you feeding your hens?
Some hens can just have looser stools than others - does she have an odor like you may have Vent Gleet? https://www.backyardchickens.com/articles/vent-gleet-aka-nasty-chicken-butt.64647/

i am having the same problem with one of my hens, bottom looks like your hens but now she is starting to loose those feathers. she only gives me an egg every other day 9somethimes I get lucky and get one every day. but here lately they are cracked when I get them out of her nest box. otherwise she is fine. I gave her a bath yesterday (just bottom half) and inspected but no lice or mites that I could see and I haven't seen any worms. I clean the coop weekly and they have plenty of space. its in the 80s and 90s here at the peek of the day but 70s in the evening and rainy here lately. I went and got wazine 17 today. I figured id treat them all just incase. that was all our tsc had.

I'll throw in another of the solutions we found. One of ours had a terrible vent with poo that was covering her feathers and basically matting the whole area. We couldn't work out what was going on with her and despite regular baths to clean it all up, within a day she would be covered again.

I read on the forum about the possibility of a yeast infection. We went down this route.

Cleaned her up and then used Canesten cream (anti-fungal) and put around the vert and bottom, with a little bit used on the top of the opening to the vent. We did this for two days (one application in the morning and one in the evening) and then followed up with one more application in a week's time.

It cleared everything up and she has never had a problem since. That was about 15 months ago or more. Before this, she was matted and covered for about 4 weeks solid despite many different efforts, such as diet changes, etc.

I don't have any pictures so that you can compare. All I can do is describe a horrible, matted and caked rear area, which was clearly bothering her. She continued to lay all the way through this. She also is an Easter egger.

Good luck. Don't know if it is useful or relevant but just in case.....

Thank you all for your responses. It is not really hot hear at all. In the 50's and low 60's at night and low 80's during the day sometimes. It's spring in the North East. I am attaching a copy of the Panacur I used as requested. I am wondering if I used the right dosage of the Wayzine. I used 2 Tbls per gallon for 24 hours. Thank you again for all your help.
