What is the best feed for larger breeds? I have a Peking duck and what I believe is a New Hampshire red rooster. They're about 11 weeks old. I'm worrying about them growing too quickly and getting too heavy for their legs. I currently have them on pier in a flock raiser which is a 20% protein. I need to feed that they both can eat. I do take their food away from 7 PM to 7 AM and for a few hours during the day as well. But is removing the food enough? I really don't want anything to happen to my babies. And I've read a lot of about them getting leg issues being too heavy further likes to support their bodies.

I sprinkle their food with herbs, brewers yeast and some oats. They also get a small bowl of peas scattered in the coop in the morning and evening.

Picture of my babies for attention!

"Normal" fowl do not have leg issues due to rapid growth.
Cornish crosses have that issue. They are a hybrid designed for rapid weight gain to get them to the table as fast as possible.
Flock Raiser with supplemental Brewer's yeast should suffice.
When the cockerel reaches sexual maturity he will very likely attempt to mate the duck.
Do you intend to get them species appropriate partners and house them separately?

I have 18 chicks (should all be pullets) in the brooder so as soon as they're old enough they will be integrated together.
