I'm looking for plans to build a duck coop, but so far, all I can find are zillions of resources for chicken coops. If I decided to use a plan for a chicken coop, what modifications might I need to keep in mind?

Well, generally ducks have the same requirements, except they don't roost, except for muscovies, so if you aren't raising muscovies you won't need a roost. Also, the nesting boxes should be on the ground, because unlike chickens they can't fly up to get into raised boxes. And they don't do well on long ramps, so if you can set it on the ground so a ramp isn't necessary they appreciate that.

Oh, and I forgot to mention, if you click 'My Coop' under my avatar, you can see my duck coop/chicken coop that both my chickens and ducks live in, and my goose, and they all love it, so that might help some.

Actually needlessjunk had a good one, page 24 of this thread.  https://www.backyardchickens.com/t/55358/duck-houses/230#post_13988850
Glad you like it. I've since expanded with a nesting box on the other side of the door. I used a pallet base for both the nesting box and the main area. Soooo much easier to get the eggs now and the girls like it. I will say taking apart pallets sucks but I hunt for them under the free section of Craigslist. I will have to take a pic tomorrow since I don't seem to have any on my phone. Found one

OMG! That is super cute, and looks pretty easy, too! I might have to revert to something similar, but I'm really trying to challenge myself and my wood working skills, just as a personal satisfaction kind of thing...ie- I WANT to do this and impress myself and give a big ol' 'i told you i could do it' to my husband, who also is lacking in woodworking skills, LOL.

I found some blueprints on Tractor Supply for an adorable barn-style coop. Take a look at this. Would this suffice? With all the doors, it doesn't look like it'd be too hard to clean out. Maybe build this and put it in an enclosed run that's been enforced with hardware cloth and a nice big watering hole at one end?

It's got nice ventilation, too, you just can't see it on the above pic. Here's another-

Looks awesome and I think it would work well. Just have plenty of ventilation and you will be set. I really like it. I did mine all on my own because dh cannot do wood work or anything of that nature. Computers are his speciality but anything handy has to be done by myself.

How many ducks fit in a coop like this?
