Different ways to house pigeons.

The 3rd video is from Iran. I know they like pigeons there VERY MUCH. I considered and still considering getting some Iranian High Flyers.
The facility is less than 5% occupied by pigeons.(from my viewing) Not sure if it ever was occupied by more. The walls and other parts look too clean. Not sure if keeping that many pigeons in one facility is a good idea.. :idunno

They remind me of the very old and practical style of pigeon housing called 'dovecote'. I find the history of these fascinating!

The Dovecote Idea has been utilized by modern City Control Authorities, to control the feral pigeon populations. :love They build these in town squares and feral pigeons choose as housing. Their eggs are then switched with dummy plastics. Way better than indiscriminately trying to control with poisons and other cruel methods.:hit

I am from the UK and we are lucky to still have many of these old dovecotes still about.. mostly at historical old buildings, but old farm houses still have them (although I never seen one in use apart from a few feral pigeons living in them).

The smaller wooden painted white ones, on poles, are still very common and many people have them in their gardens with fantail pigeons in them for decoration.
