After seeing a PVC feeder designed by Mrs. AK-Bird_Brain and her hubby, we decided to try our own.

We opted for ABS pipe, 4" and came up with this design. The feeder has a screw-on top and can be loaded in the feed room. The lower end exits on the other side of the wall, in the coop. Needs refilling about every week for 12 birds. Because the feed is there all the time we haven't run into competition for it. We're using layer pellets with grit/oyster shell in the feed.

Nice feeder. I like that you can access it from the feed room and it looks like it can hold quite a lot of feed.

One question I have... what keeps gravity from pushing all the food out the bottom?

I guess I need to take a better pic of the base, in the coop. It's a 60 degree angle turn pipe, and tilts up. The birds can shake the pellets with their beaks to move feed closer to the front, but I haven't had an avalancch of feed or anything like that.

I have a link to a similar design you might like, too. This one is completely in the coop.
