Do barred rock need bigger nesting boxes than normal?

We have barred rock pullets and they are supposed to be very large chickens. Does that mean they will need a bigger nesting box than the typical 12x12x12? We're still building out the coops, and the nesting box space has to be only 12 inches deep, but we can make the boxes a little wider or taller if they would need/prefer extra space. Should we go larger, or are barred rocks just fine in the basic 12x12 box? I know that a nesting box needs to feel dark/safe/cozy so I'm afraid to go too big.

12 x12 is a good bantam size, any large breed fowl needs about 16x16 or bigger. They stand to lay.

Barred rocks are standard sized so 12" cubed should be ok but yes if possible I'd make them taller since they'll partially stand to lay.

I used milk crates for my boxes. You can find them super cheap on Facebook marketplace. I think I got mine for $5 a piece.

I agree, make them bigger, at least 14" wide and tall. I wouldn't call Plymouth Rocks "very large," just "large."
