Hi,
I have (6) almost 4 month old guineas. Do they have a certain egg laying habit? They sleep inside every night but free range all day. Not sure if they lay in the mornings or throughout the day?? Thank you!

Guineas normally start laying during the spring following the year they were hatched.

The timing depends on the individual guinea. I have some that are laying early in the morning, some that lay during mid day and some that lay in the afternoon.

Once a guinea hen gets into the routine of egg laying, she will normally lay one egg every day at nearly the same time every day until she either goes broody or laying season ends.

When young guinea hens start laying, it is common for them to drop their eggs wherever they happen to be when the urge to lay hits them. Once they understand what is going on they tend to lay their eggs in hidden nests.

They are seasonal layers and tend to lay from spring through fall.

Ok, thank you so much! So guineas don't prefer nesting boxes? They just make their own nest once they get accustomed to laying? Because I found the egg broken on the floor where they sleep at night
