Do I have to train chicks to drink?

I’m reading different things about training the chicks to drink from a nipple waterer. Is this a thing?? And how do I do it? I’m getting day old chicks next week and I’ve also read they’ll need water immediately from the stress of the trip! How do I teach these tiny babies how to get their water?

It’s easier just to use a normal waterer and just dip their beak in it and then tap your finger in the food so they know to eat it

I prefer nipple waterers for new chicks. They pick it up really fast. Just keep tapping on the nipples. Once one learns it the others will follow...
And you won't have to deal with dirty water at all!

Make sure the waterer has a vertical nipple if using it with chicks under 3 weeks or so. Horizontal nipples require more force to operate and very young chicks may not have the strength to do so.
