Does anyone know anyone that sells king/button eggs in Australia?

Hi Sonja and everyone,
Sorry for late reply. Been waiting to see what I will get from my eggs.
One hatched on time, a silver, but died. Then the rest took 23 days to hatch (I almost threw them out).
I think it is because I need to get a thermastat.
Anyways out of the ones that made it I got 4 silvers and 3 wilds. From 3 wild hens and one wild roo.
So no need to look for silvers now, so clambering for the whites or any other mutations out there that are available in New South Wales (Australia).
Also some more great news 2 of my girls are sitting on 20 eggs in aviary and I still have about 10 eggs due soon in the incubator, so will keep my fingers and toes crossed.
I have tried some breeders and they said they are waiting for some to hatch themselves.
One of them told me he has a pair of rose buttons - has anyone ever heard of that colouration?

Same jellybean, i'd luv to get my hands on a mutation that isnt silver, esspecially a white one!
Ive never heard of a rose mutation but then again i havent been doing this long, so somebody else might know better.

Do you find its harder to find females than males? im looking for a silver female down here but can only find males so far...

I only have one pair breeding at the moment so i only get a few chicks at a time, Mrs Quail is currently sitting on 6 eggs. (6 seems to be her prefered limit lol ) Last clutch didnt hatch unfortunatly, and i was unprepared to incubate so no chickies

maybe this new lot will be successful..

Jellybean will you be sellling your silvers if they turn out to be female? or keeping them for breeding stock?

I have never heard of rose buttons. I was told that there are cinnamon in Australia. I would love to know more about the Rose ones? Did he describe them or send you pictures?

Hi Sonja,
Yes I will be keeping a couple of silver females and selling the rest. So if your interested and if I get enough silver females your welcome to buy them.
You live in the ACT, would you know how I can get them to you safely.
I have never selled them before, so what ever you want to give me for them is fine. The money will just go towards feed anyways.

There is something, I noticed about one of the blonde chicks this morning, one is less yellow and more ash in colour that the rest. Will be interesting to see what colour it will finally be.

And about those rose buttons. I emailed this breeder I found on Gumtree and he told me about the rose buttons he has. I emailed him back last night asking for a photo and he sent it to me, but can't seem to convert it and upload it on here so will describe it.
Its looks like a very pale form of cinnamin. Very pretty and the males have a white bib and light reddish colouration on its stomach area.
I suspect its a cross between a white and a cinnamin.
He will email me when he successful breeds some. I told him I am in for 2 hens and one roo.

White isn't a diluting color but a masking color so I don't think it wold be a cross. White covers colors. The bird still carries a gene for a normal color but the white is not letting it be visible.

I would love to see the rose one when you are able to adjust the pictures. It sounds so pretty.

jellybean, definitly interested in atleast one silver hen, and then possibly a hen or a roo aswell (depends on wether my current silver chick is a boy or girl) ill probably take a day trip up to syd and pick them up if i can afford to when they're ready.

You'll have to decide on a price though since ive seen amounts ranging from $5 a pair - $30 a pair, there doesnt seem to be any consistant prices around.

jellybean can you post a pic of one of your Wild hens?
from what ive seen of other wild hens, mine is alot lighter in colour under the chin and belly, almost reddish in colour, is that normal for a wild hen?

Hi Sonja I will post a pick of the three mature hens I have as soon as their eggs they are sitting on hatch at the end of the week.
I don't see much of them at the moment because they are hiding in corners and under plants etc on their nests.
I have one hen that is slightly lighter than the other two.
It would be interesting to see if yours is similar.

Also you will be my first button customer. So $5 a pair for you

I will also take some more snaps of the chicks I have incubated and the newbies in the aviary.
So look out for those latter this week.

My hen actually got off her eggs for a couple of hours today, but im not so worried about the eggs getting too cold though because it was so darn hot here today, It hit 40! and that was in the shade! another stinker tommorow too suppose to be 38.

It'd be interesting to see if your lighter hen looks like mine, she just looks a bit diffrent to the othe Wilds ive seen, more reddish in some places and very pale in others, shes got me wondering if she is secretly a cinnamon and i just dont realise it coz ive never seen one lol

If your hen is secretly a cinnamin that would be sooooo cool.
There is another mutation we seem to have in Australia, that she could be and that is what they call Caramels. She could be one of those as well.
It would be exciting to find out.
This guy is trying to sell Caramels here in Australia, but he is calling them Rose.
That is so cool about your eggs and we are having the heat as well.
It gets soooooo hot I have to turn off the heating light in the brooder and wet a corner of the paper towel so they have a little cool place to lay during the day. It dries out in a hour or so - so I do it again. They are outside under my patio, which keeps the sun off them, but darn it gets hot out there. I make sure they have plenty of water as well.
If the heat knocks us around, it really knocks them around too.
