Hi, hope you are enjoying BYC! :frow

I have sprouted other fodder for my chickens and goats. They loved it and it was fun to do.

I still treat it as a treat and not a main source of nutrients. I had good luck with sprouting barley and no mold issues. I haven't tried corn yet, but I know others have successfully sprouted corn. Just note that how many days it says before feeding out is just an estimate. My climate is cooler so things grow slower. When they say 7 days might take me 10 for the same amount of growth. So I would say adjust for your personal climate. And I like to feed fodder to my chicken when the green part is about 3 inches long, since too long can cause crop issues.

I am personally undecided as to which point I like to feed it being sprout or fodder... Nutrient value isn't significantly different in my research and sprouting is faster with less possibility of mold. But if you birds don't have access to green then I would probably go full on fodder instead of just sprouts.

Some of my birds learned how how to take the seed off the sprout/green and leave the rest behind. :duc I think they might come back for the rest later though. :pop

I Give them sprouted corn quite often. Corn Fodder seems to mold faster than wheat amd sunflowers. Chickens really love it.
