The process of making apple cider vinegar starts as a natural plant alcohol. After the process is finished, ACV does not contain any of this original alcohol, and for sure, not the alcohol you are thinking of.

ACV is a great over all tonic for all animals, birds and humans. It helps to raise the PH of the body, which helps to keep the harmful toxins and pathogens from taking hold, it increases the metabolism, increases appetite, it will help to gloss up the feathers of birds, it contains many trace minerals that are not present in the birds feed, it can help ward off bacteria and fungi, etc...lots of good stuff in ACV. The unfiltered stuff is always preferred to use, however if all you have is the filtered stuff from the grocery store, it will do. It is mixed 1 to 2 tablespoons of ACV per gallon of water made fresh daily.

So feel free to use it! It helps sick birds heal faster, helps to raise the PH of a sour crop and I just think my birds do better with ACV a few times a month in their water. Always use plastic water fonts with ACV. No metal.

Welcome to BYC and enjoy all your poultry adventures!

Hello,

Thanks for your reply.

I'm non alcohol and don't drink alcohol.

What I don't want is my chickens drinking acv which goes into there blood stream then into the eggs I am then eating eggs which were made by them drinking acv (which I think contains alcohol like beer, wine etc).

I just need the peace of mind. That's all.

But your saying when the process started it contained alcohol? Is that like wine, beer etc?

Thanks
S

There is no alcohol like is in beer or wine in ACV. When they make ACV, they start with the natural alcohol in the apple pectin. It is all boiled out and processed to produce vinegar. There is no alcohol in the ACV after it is produced. So you don't have to be concerned about consumming alcohol. There is none in ACV. It's all vinegar. :)
