Unfortunately our poor rooster was attacked by two dogs a couple days ago. We have Amoxicillin 875 in tablet form but need to make it into a liquid because he still isn't eating or drinking on his own yet. He's 8.11lbs. Just need help figuring out the dosage please. Thanks in advance!

57 mg per pound of weight every 12 hours for 5-7 days.

He'd get a little more than half of that pill. I think that would be close unless you're grinding it and have a scale.

If you are grinding it, it won't mix in water. Can you mix it with a little bit of egg yoke and electrolytes and syringe feed him? Here's a link to an article that explains how to syringe feed.

I hope your rooster gets well again. :hugs

Welcome to the site! Sorry to hear about your rooster. I hope he recovers. I don’t know your situation, of course, but I just wanted to add that sometimes when they’re isolated from the flock because of injuries it can help to bring in a friend to see them once or twice a day for a bit (supervised of course). I’ve seen where chickens will not start to eat or drink again on their own until they see flock members. Good luck with his recovery and let us know if you need anything else.

I would try to give him 1/2 a tablet right into his beak to swallow. Amoxicillin is not soluble in water, and it can taste bad if mixed in food or egg. Does he have any wounds, and pictures are helpful. Wounds can be cleaned with saline, Hibiclens/chlorhexidene and water, or sprayed with a wound spray. Apply some antibiotic ointment twice a day to wounds. If you mix some chicken feed with water and a little egg, he might take some if held up to his beak. Here is a video on giving pills and liquid medicine to chickens:
