Dogs more important than Chickens?

I've been thinking about this off and on,

Times have changed. I think people don't care as much about good standing in the community. Or maybe it is that "community" no longer means all the people of the small area near where one lives.
Community as I once knew it is gone. No more 'pick up' sports activities - everything is organized. No more face to face with full knowledge of the other person's background. Instead many deal with misconceptions and perceived grievances that the 'typed' word can convey.

Well stated, @saysfaa

.. . My experience has been that most dogs that end up in animal control kennels (i.e. are roaming) are not well-trained or well-socialized.
I don't think says what I meant to convey.

There were some absolutely wonderful dogs that came in- just beautiful manners and deportment. I still think about several of them sometimes, almost a decade later. Life happens, the best of owners and the best of dogs get the raw end of the deal sometimes.

The point was, many dogs are like that but those rarely got as far as overnight in the animal control kennel. When they slipped through a door left open accidentally, they were soon missed and their people went after them. Or their tags were soon read by a neighbor or friendly stranger and they made it home before animal control officers knew about them or before they arrived anyway.

And I'm not saying all dogs need to be that friendly to strangers. There are some good reasons, along with the bad reasons, to have dogs that are not that friendly.
